Meet the team - Ramon Schelwald
Ramon is our Head of Business Development at Rinkel, known for always bringing energy and humour to the team. He’s the guy who lights up the office with his enthusiasm, endless optimism, and a laugh that you can hear from across the room.
If you’re looking for someone who can crack a joke in the middle of a serious meeting, Ramón is your man. Around the office, he’s earned the nickname “Boomer”—a little nod to being one of the “older” colleagues. In fact, he proudly wore a custom “Boomer T-shirt” to our 2023 off-site in Spain.
Tell us about your role at Rinkel
Up till 2022, Rinkel had success in growing through developing the product and inbound performance marketing. To accelerate growth, we are adding new sales channels to the mix. As Head of Business Development, my role is to develop these new channels for growth. The first big success we have accomplished is the partnership with VodafoneZiggo.
What's the first thing that comes to people's minds when they hear your name?
I hope people remember me by my enthusiasm, energy, and optimism. But for sure they will know the Ramon Boogie Woogie!
Do you have a nickname at the office?
Boomer?! Being one of the “old guys” in the company. With the 40+ years colleagues, we even designed a Boomer T-shirt for the 2023 off-site in Spain and wore it with pride.
What do you appreciate most about Rinkel?
The open and candid communication, together with the drive to always give the customer the best experience possible.
What do you like most about your team?
We’ve got each other’s back. Whenever needed, there is someone to support, listen, and help out. Together, we look for the best way forward.
Who inspires you?
Johan Cruyff. A guy displaying drive, the ability to learn, adapt, and understand the complexity of football, and explaining it in simple words.
What is your favorite office saying?
The one that is most consistently used is “lunch?” when the clock shows 11:30.
If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be and why?
Steve Jobs. A true visionary who proved that data is only half the truth. Crazy ideas perfectly executed drive innovation.
What is your archetype?
Ramon perfectly matches the Joker archetype, scoring a 75% match for both his inner self and outward personality.
The Joker is light-hearted, sociable, and always fun to be around. Ramón embodies this with his contagious humour and his ability to keep the team upbeat, no matter how busy the day gets.
Interestingly, his outward personality also reflects a touch of the Innocent Child archetype. This means Ramón brings a fresh and curious outlook to everything, always ready to turn even the smallest challenge into a new adventure.
What’s your favorite holiday destination?
Brisbane, Australia. I met my wife there and travelled the country, visiting amazing remote and breathtaking nature parks and exploring the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef. It’s a pity it takes so long to get there, but we plan to go back at least one more time with the kids and show them the shady “Downunder Bar” in Brisbane where we first met. We know it still exists!
What do you like to do in your free time?
When the sun is out, I love to ride my race bike on the long cycling roads through the dunes and fields near Haarlem. With the recently purchased old VW T4 campervan, we roam the countryside, visiting many different places. This brings a lot of joy and relaxation to wind down from work at Rinkel.
