Armed with a comb for curls and a bowl of oatmeal, our Online Marketer Lichelle rides her bike to the office every day. After a cup of coffee, she cranks up the music in the office and gets her hands dirty building marketing campaigns.
When Lichelle joined Rinkel in January 2020, she already had a lot of experience. In her spare time, she likes snowboarding, gardening and chewing gum. But above all she loves her nice job at Rinkel (and Calusari Pinot Noir or MiP rosé, even though we’ve never seen her drink it).

So, what’s the first thing people think of when they hear your name?
Probably whether my name is spelled wrong. ;-)
Like Jesper, I (apparently) have a very difficult name. Or at least, one that isn’t very common. I’ve heard all the combinations before, but “Lychee” is the one that sticks in my mind.
What do they call you in the office?
When I had just started at Rinkel, I had a tendency to want to try out various buttons in our CMS system, something that didn’t make the development team very happy.
Because of this, I soon got called DeeDee from Dexter's Lab who has the famous line: “Ooh, what does this button do?” in combination with my name, so that became "Lili".
What exactly do you do at Rinkel?
I am the Global Marketing Lead. Together with Janine and Silvina, I’m responsible for Rinkel’s marketing strategy and the (online) marketing campaigns.
The bottom line is: bring in money by spending it strategically. Among other things, I am busy optimising advertisements, working on many fun projects and campaigns at the same time and making sure that customers and potential customers can find everything in My Rinkel.
What’s your favourite office saying?
Apart from the fact that we all look forward to Jesper's “Lunch?!" every day at 11.30 a.m., my favourite saying is “You’re still going?”. We don't like unnecessarily long meetings or calls, but when something takes too long (or we can't work it out), it's such a nice phrase to throw in. Then everyone knows it’s time to wrap up.
What do you like best about working at Rinkel?
The best thing about Rinkel is my wonderful colleagues and the stage we’re in at the moment. We’re growing very fast. A year and a half ago, I was the first official employee at Rinkel. I ended up working with four men who were already very good friends. All of us had to get used to it, of course.
But because I came in at that point, I’m closely involved in processes and developments. It’s sometimes difficult to decide what the right next steps are to take in this growing phase, but it’s this flexibility and responsibility that makes it so interesting for me. In addition, the team is constantly expanding with talented new colleagues who want to go all the way for Rinkel. It´s nice to see!
What do you like best about the Marketing Team?
Besides my wonderful Marketing colleagues Janine & Silvina, of course ;-), at Rinkel you are motivated to think outside the box. Marketing is a priority for Rinkel and it shows.
And because we’re given a lot of freedom, we can try out innovative solutions. I also like that we make our processes as scalable as possible. Do you have to do something twice? Then automate it. That’s the motto we live by. This also means you don’t waste a lot of time on tedious or time-consuming things and can spend that time on everything that makes marketing so much fun instead.
No two days are the same and every day I learn something new!
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
Oh, I don't want to choose! There are so many beautiful places. Last year, I took a lovely trip to the Caribbean and then a tour of Texas, but my holiday to Sri Lanka is also high on the list.
And you’ll always find me in Austria for a week in winter. Just thinking about the slopes makes me itch to go snowboarding. But if I really had to choose, I’d go for Slovenia (plot twist!). The country has something idyllic and peaceful about it. It was love at first sight!
What keeps you busy in your free time?
Apart from always being busy with Rinkel - in case Jeroen is reading this - I try to go to the gym a couple of times every week and I have recently started to try Padel (a combination of squash and tennis). You can also find me on a terrace or at a festival. On the weekends, I’m often on the road visiting friends and family. I live in Rotterdam, but am originally from Huizen, near Hilversum. So a large part of my social life still takes place there.
What’s your archetype?
We also asked Lichelle what her archetype is. And what is it? She’s a jack of all trades. She’s an Intellectual (like our Jesper and William Shakespeare) and a Spiritual, like the Dalai Lama and Oprah Winfrey.
In other words: a real combination of the Pope, Deepak Chopra, Plato and Immanuel Kant. That’s why she always knows what to say, has something to say about everything and can put everyone at ease.
Is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers?
Well...
I can imagine that this might be intimidating, but ... I can make my eyebrows move independently of each other. But I don’t let it go to my head.
Would you also like to learn how to move your eyebrows one at a time by working with Lichelle? Then check out our vacancies!
